I got my first job by filling out an application. I don’t know if there were few applicants or if I was one of the lucky few to be selected.
It was easy. Almost deceptively so.
More than a decade later, filling out an application isn’t enough to get most people an interview, let alone an offer.
That’s bad news for job seekers. But good news for creative types.
Networking is critical for career success and if you’re drawn to introvert behaviors (as I am), there are more opportunities than ever before to connect with people that can help further your career.
LinkedIn to show off your resume and accomplishments in real time.
Blogging to show colleagues you’re a thought leader in your industry.
And social media to help you leverage the aforementioned.
Don’t wait on the opportunity.
Take the opportunity.
